Book 18, Deep and Dark and Dangerous

If you like creepy, scary books with a creepy, scary and somewhat sad character, this one is for you. Mary Downing Hahn crafted this horror story that takes place at a lake cottage in Maine over two generations. This book like this me question what is real and what is fantasy. Since Mary Downing Hahn writes ghost stories that gave me a hint to look for ghosts. When an interesting character would enter, I would question if he/she was the ghost. I connected with the dad in the book because I don't really believe in ghosts outside the imaginations of authors.

Book 17, Marley, A Dog Like No Other

This was a funny story of a dog owned by writer John Grogan. Since it is the true story of Marley's life, the book would be a biography. John Grogan writes for a newspaper and included his dog, Marley in his column over the years. There was a movie out last year based on the more adult version of this book. I think this one was done after the movie. I have read the adult version and have seen the movie so there weren't really any surprises. I can make many connections though. I too, own a lab. Marley was a yellow lab, but mine is a black one. She can be quite silly as Marley was. She like Marley is afraid of storms as is Daisy, although she has never destroyed a garage. The book reminded me of the sad fact that our dogs don't live as long as we do.

Mr. Cameron sent these pictures out to all of the teachers through an email and I have been playing with videos on this site and I thought I would put them together and then I thought, wow, I wonder if I can put this video on my blog and wow, it really works. We are going to have so much fun with this site this year!

Make: Online : Dalton Ghetti's unbelievable micro pencil sculptures
You really have to look at this to believe it. Can you imagine making art from pencils. I must admit that I have insisted some of my students of the past throw away little stubs of pencils. I am truly sorry if I stifled your creativity. I just thought it was too little to write with.

That's what I call a day at the beach!

This is one of the neatest, most interesting things I think I have seen. I just think, how'd he do that? What do you think? It sure beats anything I ever made at the beach. How about you?
